Rush formed in Toronto in 1968 and spent five decades building one of the most devoted fanbases in rock history. The classic trio of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart -- who joined in 1974 -- created a catalog that ranged from hard rock to progressive epics to synthesizer-driven pop without ever losing the band's essential identity. Peart's drumming was widely considered among the greatest in rock history and his lyrics defined the band's intellectual character. Rush were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Peart died in January 2020. Lee and Lifeson returned to the stage as Rush in June 2026 for the Fifty Something Tour with new drummer Anika Nilles.
