The Gibson ES-355 is the top-of-the-line version of Gibson's semi-hollow thinline series, featuring gold hardware, multi-ply binding, large block inlays, and a Varitone rotary switch for expanded tonal versatility. The semi-hollow construction with a solid center block provides rich, warm acoustic resonance while controlling feedback at higher volumes. Noel Gallagher of Oasis used the ES-355 extensively, its jangly-yet-thick tone becoming a key ingredient of the band's Britpop wall of sound.
