Ampeg SVT
The Ampeg SVT is the definitive rock bass amplifier. Introduced in 1969, the SVT (Super Vacuum Tube) delivers 300 watts of all-tube power through a sealed 8x10 cabinet, producing a massive, authoritative low end that cuts through any stage volume. Its design was driven by the need to keep bass audible alongside increasingly loud guitar amplifiers in the late 1960s. The SVT became the standard backline bass amp for arena rock and has remained in continuous production in various forms for over fifty years. Roger Waters used an SVT setup throughout Pink Floyd's classic period, and the amp has been the first choice of bass players across virtually every genre of rock, punk, and metal. Its characteristic midrange growl when pushed into overdrive is one of the most recognizable sounds in recorded music.
