Poison formed in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1983 before relocating to Los Angeles and becoming one of the most commercially successful acts of the hair metal era. Vocalist Bret Michaels, guitarist C.C. DeVille, bassist Bobby Dall, and drummer Rikki Rockett built their following on the Sunset Strip before signing to Enigma Records. Look What the Cat Dragged In (1986), Open Up and Say Ahh! (1988), and Flesh & Blood (1990) produced a string of Top 40 hits including Every Rose Has Its Thorn, which reached number one. They have sold over 45 million records worldwide. DeVille departed in 1991 and returned in 1999. The band continues to tour with the original lineup.
