Ratt

Ratt formed in Los Angeles in 1976, finally breaking through with their debut EP in 1983 and major label album Out of the Cellar (1984). Guitarists Warren DeMartini and Robin Crosby developed a twin-guitar attack that was technically more sophisticated than most Sunset Strip contemporaries, and vocalist Stephen Pearcy brought a sleazy swagger that suited their hard rock aesthetic perfectly. Out of the Cellar went platinum four times. Invasion of Your Privacy (1985) and Dancing Undercover (1986) continued their commercial run. Internal tensions, lineup changes, and the grunge shift ended their momentum in the early 1990s. DeMartini and Pearcy have led various Ratt lineups in subsequent decades.
