Skid Row formed in Toms River, New Jersey in 1986, fronted by the extraordinarily powerful vocalist Sebastian Bach alongside guitarist Dave Sabo and bassist Rachel Bolan. After Jon Bon Jovi helped broker a deal with Atlantic Records, their self-titled debut (1989) went five-times platinum, driven by Youth Gone Wild, I Remember You, and 18 and Life. Slave to the Grind (1991) debuted at number one, making them one of the few hair metal acts to crack the top of the charts as grunge was emerging. Bach was fired in 1996 due to ongoing tensions. He has maintained a solo career while the remaining members have continued under the Skid Row name with rotating vocalists.
