Line 6 DL4
The Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler is a multi-delay pedal offering sixteen delay models ranging from digital and analog simulations to tape echo, reverse, and dynamic delay algorithms. Its four-button layout provides three user presets and a tap tempo, while a built-in 14-second looper added creative utility that was uncommon when the pedal launched in 1999. The DL4 became a staple of experimental and atmospheric rock through its association with Radiohead — Ed O'Brien and Jonny Greenwood both used DL4s extensively during the Kid A and Amnesiac sessions, exploiting the looper and more experimental delay modes for textural guitar work. The pedal's ability to switch between radically different delay types via presets made it practical for bands whose songs required varied tonal approaches. The DL4 MkII updated the platform with improved processing and expanded loop time while maintaining the original's workflow.
