The Psychedelic Furs

new-wavepost-punkpretty-in-pinklondonsaxophone
The Psychedelic Furs formed in London in 1977, led by vocalist Richard Butler and his bassist brother Tim Butler. Their abrasive post-punk debut gave way to a more melodic new wave sound on Talk Talk Talk (1981) and Forever Now (1982). "Pretty in Pink" from Talk Talk Talk inspired John Hughes's 1986 film of the same name, bringing the band to a new generation of listeners. The Ghost in You and Heaven from Mirror Moves (1984) remain enduring new wave radio staples. The band reformed in 2000 and released their first new album in nearly three decades, Made of Rain, in 2020.
