Soccer Mommy

Soccer Mommy is the project of Sophie Allison, who began uploading songs to Bandcamp from her bedroom in Nashville before signing to Fat Possum Records. Allison's songwriting channels the directness of 90s alternative rock — particularly Liz Phair and The Cranberries — into guitar-driven arrangements that balance clarity with atmospheric depth. Her 2018 debut Clean established a template of unflinching emotional honesty delivered over jangly, reverb-laced guitar, while 2020's color theory expanded the sonic palette with synthesizers and more elaborate production. Allison's guitar tone relies heavily on reverb and modulation pedals, with the Caroline Guitar Company Météore providing a lo-fi reverb character and the Walrus Audio Slö adding ambient shimmer. Her 2022 album Sometimes, Forever pushed further into electronic and shoegaze territory, demonstrating an artist continually expanding beyond the bedroom-pop origins.
