Snail Mail is the project of Lindsey Jordan, who grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland and started playing guitar at age five with classical training. She released her first EP Habit at sixteen and signed to Matador Records for her 2018 debut album Lush, which announced her as a major new voice in indie rock. Her guitar work is classically precise and emotionally direct — intricate fingerpicked parts and clean melodic lines that carry the same weight as her vocals. Jordan plays a Fender Jaguar and has worked with EarthQuaker Devices pedals. Her 2021 album Valentine expanded her sonic palette into more layered production while retaining the intimacy of her songwriting.
