Aerosmith
Aerosmith formed in Boston in 1970 and became America's greatest hard rock band on the strength of the chemistry between guitarist Joe Perry and vocalist Steven Tyler. Their 1970s output — Rocks, Toys in the Attic, and their debut — defined a swagger and looseness that set them apart from heavier contemporaries. After a mid-career collapse driven by substance abuse, they returned in the late 1980s to an even larger commercial peak.
