Univox Uni-Vibe

The Univox Uni-Vibe is a photo-cell modulation effect designed to simulate a rotating Leslie speaker. Its four photocells, driven by a pulsing light bulb, create a lush, three-dimensional phase shifting that sounds distinctly different from standard phasers or chorus pedals. Jimi Hendrix used the Uni-Vibe extensively from 1969 onward, its swirling, underwater quality enhancing 'Machine Gun' and 'Star Spangled Banner' with a psychedelic dimension that no other effect could provide. The slow, deep setting creates a hypnotic throb that has influenced every modulation pedal since.
