Sonic City has always been about the gear behind the music — the amps, pedals, guitars and strange little boxes that helped create the records we love. Sonic Labs is the other side of that obsession.
We build our own amplifiers and effects with a simple philosophy: keep the circuit purposeful, make it sound great, make it look like something worth owning, and leave out everything that doesn’t need to be there.
No modeling menus. No apps. No presets to scroll through. Just amps and pedals made to make guitars sound better.
Rocker 40
Big, raw tube tone without the nonsense.
The Rocker 40 is Sonic Labs’ take on the classic guitar amplifier: straightforward controls, plenty of attitude and a circuit designed around the relationship between the guitar, the player and the amp. From warm, responsive cleans to thick edge-of-breakup sounds and aggressive driven tones, the Rocker 40 is built to live in the part of the spectrum where great guitar amps become instruments themselves. Plug in. Turn it up. Find the sweet spot. That’s the point.
Bad Boy
Smaller amp. Bad intentions.
The Bad Boy strips the idea down even further. It’s a compact Sonic Labs amp designed around immediacy — fewer controls, fewer distractions and a direct path from guitar to speaker. Bite, loud and heat give you enough control to move from touch-sensitive grit into nasty, pushed amp tones without turning the front panel into an airplane cockpit. Simple by design. Definitely not polite.
FOZZ
Fuzz should be a little unreasonable.
FOZZ is our four-control fuzz pedal built for everything from thick vintage saturation to ragged, aggressive walls of guitar. Volume. Fozz. Tone. Bite. That’s it. Dial it back and add some dirt and character. Push it and things get considerably less civilized. FOZZ was designed to interact with your guitar and amp rather than replace either one — the kind of pedal you leave on longer than you intended.
Built by Sonic Labs
Sonic Labs gear is produced in small runs rather than mass-produced inventory. That gives us room to experiment with finishes, coverings, grille cloths and other details — so individual amps may have a little personality of their own. Some will be clean and traditional. Some won’t. And we like it that way.
