Pearly Gates 1959 Les Paul

Pearly Gates is the legendary 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard that Billy Gibbons has played since 1968, named after a 1936 Packard automobile that a friend sold to help buy the guitar. It is widely regarded as one of the finest-sounding Les Pauls ever made, with its original PAF humbuckers producing a thick, vocal midrange and singing sustain that became the foundation of ZZ Top's guitar sound. The guitar's particular combination of lightweight Honduras mahogany body, figured maple top, and perfectly wound PAF pickups creates a tone that Gibson has attempted to replicate numerous times. Pearly Gates has appeared on virtually every ZZ Top recording and is considered among the most valuable and iconic guitars in rock history.
