Mesa/Boogie Electradyne

The Mesa/Boogie Electradyne is a multi-wattage tube amplifier head offering switchable power output from 90 watts down to 45 watts, with three distinct gain voicings that span vintage clean to modern high-gain territory. Its Tweed, Crunch, and Hi-Gain modes cover more tonal ground than most single-channel amps, while the multi-watt feature allows players to access natural power tube saturation at varying volume levels. Kim Thayil of Soundgarden used the Electradyne as a complement to his Mesa Trem-O-Verb, pairing the two amplifiers for a broader, more complex stage sound. The Electradyne's Tweed mode delivers warm, Fender-like breakup, while its Hi-Gain mode pushes into the saturated territory Mesa is known for. This versatility made it practical for Soundgarden's dynamic range, from clean arpeggiated passages to wall-of-fuzz riffing.
