Leslie Speaker Cabinet

The Leslie speaker uses mechanically rotating horn and drum assemblies to create a Doppler-shifted, three-dimensional sound that no electronic effect can perfectly replicate. Originally designed for Hammond organs, the Leslie became a studio tool for guitars, keyboards, and even vocals. Pink Floyd ran David Gilmour's guitar through a Leslie on several tracks, its slow rotation adding a dreamy, underwater quality to sustained chords and its fast setting creating an aggressive, swirling tremolo. The physical movement of sound through space gives the Leslie a tangible, room-filling dimensionality.
