The Hiwatt DR103 is a hand-wired 100-watt amplifier known for its exceptional clean headroom, tight bass response, and glassy high end. Built by Dave Reeves in the UK, Hiwatts use higher-quality components and point-to-point wiring that give them greater volume and clarity than comparable Marshalls. David Gilmour's DR103s, pushed with a Big Muff and Colorsound Power Boost, produce the sustaining lead tone heard on 'Comfortably Numb' and 'Time.' The amp's headroom allows Gilmour's effects to speak clearly without the amp itself adding uncontrolled distortion.
