Gibson Les Paul Special

The Gibson Les Paul Special is a simplified version of the Les Paul Standard, introduced in 1955 with a flat-top slab mahogany body and two P-90 single-coil pickups in place of humbuckers. Lighter and more affordable than the Standard, it delivers a brighter, rawer tone with more bite and less warmth — characteristics that made it well suited to roots reggae's emphasis on rhythmic clarity and midrange punch. Bob Marley played a Gibson Les Paul Special as his primary electric guitar throughout much of his career with The Wailers.
