Gibson ES-175
The Gibson ES-175 is a single-cutaway semi-hollow archtop guitar that has been in continuous production since 1949, making it one of the longest-running models in Gibson's catalog. Originally designed as a jazz instrument, its warm, full tone and excellent sustain made it equally at home in progressive rock. Steve Howe of Yes made the ES-175 his primary electric guitar for much of the band's classic period, using it on The Yes Album, Fragile, and Close to the Edge. Joe Pass, Jim Hall, and Pat Metheny established its jazz credentials. Howe's adoption of it for complex rock arrangements demonstrated its remarkable versatility.
