Deacy Amp

The Deacy Amp is a small, custom-built amplifier created by Queen bassist John Deacon from components found in a skip. This tiny battery-powered amp, built around a single transistor circuit, produces a distinctive buzzy, compressed tone that Brian May used extensively for Queen's multi-layered guitar orchestrations. The amp's unique harmonic character, when combined with the Red Special guitar, created the signature layered sound heard on tracks like Procession, Brighton Rock, and portions of Bohemian Rhapsody. Despite its humble origins, the Deacy Amp became one of the most important pieces of gear in Queen's sound, and replicas have been attempted but never fully captured the original's magic.
