Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster

The Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster was a single-transistor germanium boost pedal produced in the mid-1960s that became one of the most influential effects in British rock. It was designed to push the front end of a tube amplifier into singing, sustained overdrive by boosting treble frequencies. Marc Bolan used one into a Vampower amplifier to create the bright, compressed tone that defined T. Rex's Electric Warrior and The Slider. Tony Iommi used one into a Laney to get the biting lead tone on early Black Sabbath records. Brian May built his treble booster based on the same circuit. Rory Gallagher relied on one throughout his career. Original units are extremely rare and command collector prices, but numerous clone manufacturers have kept the circuit alive.
