Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster
The Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster is a single-transistor germanium boost pedal originally produced in the 1960s that became essential to the British blues-rock sound. By boosting treble frequencies and driving the front end of a tube amplifier into natural overdrive, the Rangemaster creates a singing, harmonically rich distortion that responds beautifully to playing dynamics. Rory Gallagher used a Rangemaster into his Vox AC30 to achieve his fiery, aggressive lead tone, the pedal's treble emphasis cutting through the AC30's inherent warmth to produce a searing, articulate sound. Brian May, Tony Iommi, and Marc Bolan also relied on the Rangemaster as a cornerstone of their tones.
