Ampeg V-4
The Ampeg V-4 is a 100-watt all-tube guitar amplifier head introduced in the early 1970s. Designed with an adjustable midrange control that made it unusually flexible for a tube amp of its era, the V-4 found favor with guitarists who needed clean headroom alongside a distinctly warm low-mid character. Ric Ocasek of The Cars used a V-4 as his primary amp throughout the band's career, prizing its adjustable midrange for sitting cleanly alongside synthesizers in the mix.
