1978 Gibson Les Paul Standard

Dean DeLeo's primary guitar throughout Stone Temple Pilots' career. He bought his first 1978 Les Paul Standard brand-new at Manny's Music in New York and has described the year as having an almost magnetic pull on him — every Les Paul that entered his life turned out to be a 1978. He uses multiple 1978 Standards live, including one nicknamed 'The Wino' kept in Drop D tuning, and has said his setup has remained essentially unchanged since 1990.
