Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Tom Petty formed the Heartbreakers in Los Angeles in 1976 after relocating from Florida, and spent the next four decades producing some of the most durable, melodically direct rock music of his era. Damn the Torpedoes, Full Moon Fever, and Wildflowers are American rock classics. Petty was defined by a refusal to compromise with record labels that became the stuff of legend, and a catalog that sounded deceptively simple and proved endlessly replayable. He died in 2017 at 66.
