Michael McDonald joined the Doobie Brothers in 1975 and fundamentally changed their sound from country rock to blue-eyed soul. What a Fool Believes reached number one and won the Grammy for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. His distinctive voice is the most recognizable in yacht rock.
