Geese

Geese emerged from Brooklyn while still in high school, signing to Partisan Records and releasing their debut Projector in 2022. The band channels the restless energy of early Talking Heads and Gang of Four through a distinctly contemporary lens, with Cameron Winter's yelping vocals and angular guitar lines interlocking with Foster Hudson's complementary parts. Bassist Max Bassin and drummer Dom Apa provide a rhythmic foundation that borrows from math rock's precision without sacrificing groove. Winter's Fender Jazzmaster produces tones that range from clean, staccato stabs to swirling tremolo-bar manipulations, while Boss pedals add texture without overwhelming the band's fundamentally live-sounding aesthetic. Their 2024 follow-up 4D Country expanded their palette considerably, incorporating country, jazz, and ambient elements into what had been a guitar-forward post-punk framework. The band's willingness to dismantle their own formula while barely out of their teens suggests a creative restlessness that recalls Radiohead's early trajectory. Their live performances are marked by explosive energy and a tightness that belies their youth.
